Nutt ranked #8 best SEC coach

Back in April the Sporting News ranked the SEC coaches. Where did Houston Nutt end up? They ranked Nutt the 8th best coach in the league. Here is what they said:

The way Hog denizens howled for Nutt to leave Arkansas reminded me of something my grandma used to say: Be careful what you wish for, because you may get it. Nutt's work in Fayetteville showed he's a top-notch coach. I fully expect the personable Nutt, who has an eye for talent and is masterful motivator and game-planner, to thrive in Oxford.

"The linebackers were not great last year, but at least all three starters are back and Ashlee Palmer is ready for a big senior season. The secondary is a little more of a problem and Mississippi will need the group to drastically improve if the team wants to consider going to a bowl game. To address the problem, Marshay Green, who caught 31 passes as a receiver last season, is moving to cornerback. If he learns quickly and becomes the top corner the team hopes, Ole Miss has enough guaranteed wins that they are just a couple upsets away from their first bowl game since 2003."

Back and ready for football

After a long and somewhat disappointing off season (baseball) for the HTB we are back. What an exciting time to be an Ole Miss Rebel. In just over 2 months the Houston Nutt era will begin in Oxford. In September, the national attention will be on Ole Miss when the first Presidential debate will visit Ole Miss. The Basketball Practice Facility has finally gotten off the ground and Tad Smith is getting a new roof.

This is a slow news time we can't promise a new blog everyday but we will do our best to bring interesting concepts, opponents thoughts and other Ole Miss related topics when we can. If you have any ideas, please pass them along!

NIT: Round 1: Ole Miss v. UC Santa Barbara

Tad Smith Coliseum will be rocking tonight as the Gauchos travel all the way from California to Mississippi to play the Rebels.
UC Santa Barbara and Ole Miss have never met. Also, neither team has played a common foe this year.

No NCAA for the Rebels; await the NIT

It wasn't really a surprise. There was an outside chance and I held my breath but in the end what happened was no shock to the Rebel fans. Now the Rebels wait to find out what seed they will be in the NIT.
I would guess we deserve to be a #1 seed but I wouldn't be surprised with a #2 seed.

Thanks for everyone's patience during the Hotty Toddy Blog blackout. I am glad to say that HTB is back.

Some thought....

I am a bit disappointed with the men's basketball team. After a brilliant start, we have gotten into a terrible slump. Yet, we can still finish strong. My hope is still that we will still make the Big Dance, despite looking unlikely at this time. Bottom line, we are young. Despite the slump, I am extremely happy with the direction the program is heading.

Baseball....

#2 in the country. What is there to be disappointed in?
